Crosses on Display
Saint Ciaran boldly founded his monastery on the banks of the river Shannon. The monastery flourished. It was a university, students from all over Europe came.
There was a cathedral, two sturdily built round towers, three high crosses, nine churches and over seven hundred early Christian grave slabs.
The original high crosses are on display in the visitor’s center.
The monastery must have really flourished. Were you able to actually see the grave slabs? Are those the vertical stones to the right of where you are in the picture? By the way, these pictures are amazingly vibrant! I want to go to Ireland!! Thank you so much Flower, for sharing what you are experiencing. We really enjoy hearing from you. I love you, Oma
Thanks for your blog, nice to read. Do not stop.
