The Royal Hospital Kilmainham
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham was built on the site of a seventh century Christian settlement. It was turned into a monastery for the Knights Hospitallers.
The hospital started being built in 1680. The architects worked so hard to make Dublin a city of European standing. Like Les Invalides in Paris, thousands of army pensioners lived their final days in the hospital.
In 1991 the Irish Museum of Modern Art moved into the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
I enjoyed your update, Flower! Sounds like an awesome place to explore!
Thank you!
What an amazing adventure you are having. Can you imagine being in a hospital like this one? The words Les Invalides means the invalids or the sick. This hospital was built even before the United States became a country. Amazing. Love Grandmom Debbie
Thanks. I can’t imagine being in a hospital like that.
